I have just been accepted to the BYU MBA Program and I am thrilled as can be!! Classes will start in August! I have wanted to go to business school since I was a little girl. Going to MBA school is fulfilling one of my biggest dreams and most importantly it will provide me with the tools needed to fulfill my even bigger dreams of starting my own businesses. (Yes, you heard me, plural!) I’ve got business ideas so big I can’t yet wrap my head around them, and so many I can’t quite figure out how to fit them all in, but there are already a few in the works and I’m so excited to learn how to handle them!
Once again these beautiful photos were taken for me by my go-to Utah photographer Diana Putnam Photography!
In my excitement, I actually have been collecting cute business casual outfit pieces over the past year or so, and most recently stocked up on some straight legged printed dress pants (that were on sale) so I’m thrilled to have gotten into school and wear them for presentations and more interviews. This particular business casual outfit is 2 parts Banana, 1 part Steve Madden, and 1 part Gordman’s (non-label.)
My mom has influenced me in so many ways. She also got her MBA from BYU, has nurtured my entrepreneurial spirit all of my life, and taught me all I know about girly style! My mom taught me to buy quality staple pieces so that they would last, and that the key was to wait and grab them when they’re on sale! I still have some business outfit pieces she bought me when I was 16 that still fit! I try to swing by Banana Republic during major sale seasons (Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, etc) and always check the clearance section too! If you happen to be a size 0 or 2 (which Banana Republic anti-inflates their sizes so you might be surprised what fits you.) it’s pretty easy to score a rather large selection of things on the clearance rack.
I scored this flat-lapel white blazer for 70% off at Banana Republic during a big sale last year The lapel outlines are simply stitched and aren’t actual flaps! I LOVE this and wish all of my blazers were like this! Then I scored these cropped dress pants on Clearance at Banana Republic for $10! How could I not!
I found my Steve Madden purple suede heels on Zullily which were also hugely discounted, ($39 I believe.) So be sure to check there every so often too to catch your favorite brands when they’re on there! My blouse is from Gordman’s, a non-label clothing store where I can often find trendy pieces like this. This top has been a favorite now for months! The pop of color it always provides helps make this professional outfit also feel so happy, like me!
My nude leather earrings are from Nickel & Suede (super lightweight!) I’ve even surprised myself how many times I wear these (as normally such a non-earrings fan!) But when I wear my hair up in a top knot like this (which is a lot in the summer) I like to have big earrings to balance out my bun and make me feel put together. (A nice trick that works even on leggings days 🙂
