My husband is a high school football coach and as you can imagine it has a huge influence on our life, we’re a football family for life! For my husband’s birthday this year I decided to re-do our living room to make it more football-team friendly space where he can bring his team for team parties and football movie nights. This past year I decorated my own home office (see my feminine girlboss home office space here), our master bedroom (see my navy and copper master bedroom here), so I thought it was time I created a space especially for him, but still had my touch! The end result: an industrial chic game-ready living space!
First, here’s a zoomed-out version of the room so you don’t get lost while you scroll. he room is divided into three main sections from left to right: Coach’s Office (desk), Game Zone (living room space), and the Locker Room (mud room space).
Coach’s Office (study space)
My husband needs a space where he can watch film, work on his playbook, and study for school. I created this desk using Ikea desks and shelves. It was originally a double desk where we each had a side, but since I now have my own office, he now uses the whole desk: half for football and half for school.
Game Zone (living space)
The living room space of this room is where we watch movies, where he play video games, and where we can entertain friends for movie nights.
The dresser, coffee table, blanket basket, lamps, and shadow box are thrifted. I found these charcoal curtains at Ross (love Ross!) The “Families are Forever” clock is from Deseret Book.” The “God Bless this Hot Mess” frame is from Hobby Lobby! The paintings are from his grandpa or wedding gifts. The pillows I’ve collected over the years (the deer pillow was made by my sister!)
I DIY-ed the jersey shadow box frame (scroll down to see it up close!)
Locker Room (mud room space)
This is my favorite part of the room! I love the way it sums up the industrial chic feel of the entire room in one little space.
I spotted this outdoor bench at Rodworks and knew this space needed it! It brings the outside in, adds additional seating (can fit 3 large football players), and it folds up flat and can fit behind one of the couches if we ever need to put it away! I added a couple pillows and I’m obsessed! It’s the perfect little nook for quick visitors, reading the mail, or putting on shoes!
I thrifted the wooden shelf (and painted the back grey) and the shelf unit under the bench. I found the pillows at Ikea and ross. The adorable wire lamps were $10 each at Ross, as well as the little owl succulent vase. The hanging vases and wire candle frame were also from Rodworks! You guys, rodworks seriously always has the most perfect home decor pieces for every room I’ve ever done! This sporty agenda board is from Tai Pan, isn’t it just perfect for this cute space! This Aztec-print rug is from Bed, Bath, and Beyond (those 20% off coupons you get in the mail NEVER expire, literally never.)
I have been wanting a set of lockers for our home for the longest time, thanks to pinterest! I scoured KSL, craigslist, and local yardsale facebook pages to find the perfect locker set. I found a set of 6 used school lockers for $20 on KSL. I immediately drove them to Latest Lovely Design (my local freelance furniture refinishing master), described to her my pinterest-inspired goals, and felt like she instantly captured my vision and she went to work! She sprayed them this perfect matte charcoal, color, welded the bottom shelf unit together and to the bottom of the lockers, and added beautiful wood to the top and the shelf! It is absolutely PERFECT and exactly what I wanted! Now Jordan has somewhere to store all of his coaching supplies like cones, braces, cleats, tape, and footballs!
I mean check out this amazing transformation!! 3 cheers for Latest Lovely Design! She can seriously create anything you can pin! Check out her portfolio to get ideas for what she can create for you! (She’s based in Utah so run to get on her schedule before Christmas Utah neighbors!)
Our Football-Team-Friendly, Game-Ready space is one that we both can enjoy!
