Ever since it’s arrival on my front porch last week, this fab burgundy swing dress hasn’t spent much time hanging in my closet because I’ve been too busy wearing it! This dress is from online cute modest shop Poppy Wells (use my promocode “modestgoddess20” for 20% your orders from this cute site through Friday! It’s only $28 and comes in black too!
I love the burgundy color which I’m inclined to rename “berry” since it’s spring and this color isn’t going anywhere soon! Berry is here to stay this season and so are swing dresses! I LOVE the swing dress trend! These dresses are comfortable, lightweight, loose fitting, and modest! Perfect in my book! Swing dresses are so wonderful for girls with varying modesty-standards since they have high necklines, long sleeves, a loose fit, and a knee length hem! I love how long they are when you sit down since they drape beautifully past your knees like a cuddly blanket. I even spun around a bit in mine for these pictures (scroll down) and they stayed modest then too!
The fun thing about this dress being such a fab blank slate is that I got to accessorize heavily without it looking overdone. My starting pieces for this accessories ensemble were these silver pebbled leather earrings from online leather jewelry shop Nickel and Suede! These are their Silver Shell Leather Earrings in size small. You can see the difference between their earrings sizes here. They are incredibly lightweight, so shiny they look like metal, the perfect size, and all while being made of high quality, beautiful leather. These earrings fit me perfectly and I wear them with all kinds of outfits!
Everyone has been styling their swing dresses with booties, which I’ve loved! But because it’s spring it’s time to start breaking in those new flats we’ve been dying to order! I found these flats on amazon for under $20 + shipping. ( They are now sold out in grey but you can get them in black!) I love the grey with the burgundy to spring-ify the entire look! You’ll definitely be seeing lots of these!
I thought a heather grey large brimmed hat would be the perfect addition to match the grey lace-up flats and create a nice grey-burgundy-grey pattern to this outfit! I found this one at H&M easily within a few minutes of searching.
The statement piece of this outfit was this silver bib necklace from Happiness Boutique. I chose it because it’s draping V-shape creates the illusion of a neckline against this high-necked swing dress, breaking up the solid color with some shine!
Lastly this amazing leather and suede Bolivian tote bag is from La Pionera! La Pionera is an online purse and bag company with all products designed and handmade by a sweet couple in Bolivia. This company was started by an American girl who served an 18 month LDS mission in Bolivia and while serving the people there she fell in love with the land, culture, and people of Bolivia. This particular bag is called the Christina Rosa, it’s $100, and it just opened for preorders! (There is a promocode on their instagram @la.pionera!) The dark leather is hand stamped and beautifully cut and the red suede is absolutely beautiful! This tote is easy to throw over my shoulder with any look (I just shot another one of it with jeans and a leather jacket coming soon!) and it can easily hold lots of things. The little Bolivian typical fabric section on the front is actually a pocket perfect for easy Iphone acccess!

P.S. Fun little tid bit, the phrase “It’s the berries,” is from the 1920’s and refers to berries being a sweet, special treat. It was used similarly to “it’s the bee’s knees” basically meaning the equivalent of today’s “It’s totally rad.”
