“Queen of Hearts” Kate Spade Inspired Modest Valentine’s Day Look

Modest fashion blogger Modest Goddess styles a Kate Spade Inspired modest pink and red Valentine's Day outfit.

This Valentine’s Day I decided to style another modest pink and red Valentine’s Day look since I had so much fun styling pink and red last year! (You can check out last year’s business casual modest Valentine’s Day look here!) I love how bright the colors are against the snow, and Diana Putnam Photography just did an amazing job on this whole shoot!

My inspiration for this pink and red Valentine’s Day look was this adorable pink and red Kate Spade bag that I’ve had pinned to my wishlist for a while! I think I pretty much nailed it!

The extra cool thing about this outfit is that it is 70% thrifted! Starting with this super adorable ballet pink dress coat from Thred Up! Now for the outfit details of how I created this Kate Spade Inspired Valentines Day look! Before I tell you, can you guess the rest of the thrifted pieces in this outfit? Thrifted via Brand Name Second-Hand Clothing Stores:

Ballet Pink Trench Coat: Asos thrifted via Thred Up (online)

Fuschia Sweater:  J Crew. thrifted via Thred Up (online)

Heart print Button-up: J Crew thrifted via Thred Up (online)

Nude & Leopard Ankle Straps: Kelsi Dagger thrifted via Poshmark

Necklace: Kate Spade thrifted via Uptown Cheapskate (various locations)

I developed the art of thrifting thanks to my mother who has a love for repurposing use things, from furniture to clothing pieces! I’ve got an eye tuned to finding amazing pieces in general thrift stores (like Deseret Industries or Savers) but it’s even easier at second hand stores that only sell brand name clothing items (like Thred Up, Poshmark, Uptown Cheapskate, or Plato’s Closet.)

For this look I tried out the newest one, Thred Up! Thred Up is entirely online and they have photos of every individual item they have in stock (and there is a lot!) I found it easiest to have in mind a specific type of item, or a list of items, that I wanted and then I used the search bar and search filters to narrow down the inventory to find what I needed. This tactic worked out very well! My goals were to find a trench coat, valentine’s day tops, and a nude leather jacket (coming in a future post) and I found them all!

The extra cool thing is that Thred Up also buys any of your own name brand clothing you are done with! They send you a laundry-load sized shipping bag with prepaid shipping that you can fill up and send to them and they’ll pay you to sell you your clothes! You can choose to cash out or spend the balance on the site! LOVE this idea! I’m currently sorting through my closet to find items of clothing that I’m no longer wearing and I’m tired ot taking up space in my closet. I’m sorting them into two categories: non-label pieces that I’ll donate to Deseret Industries and name-brand clothing that I’ll ship to Thred Up to sell!

I love the way this heart-printed blouse looks under the hot pink sweater! The stark contrast of both of them against the red skirt! AHH I just love it all!

I do like supplementing my second-hand pieces with items that are new from this current season as well!

This look was definitely made by this awesome modest red midi skirt from Tara Lynn’s Boutique! It has a beautiful embossed-like texture to it and a nice thick waistband that gives me a super defined waist, perfect for my pencil shape! I love how modest it is (as is the rest of their online shop.) The knee-length midi length is just so flattering and classy! I think this modest red dress of theirs is beautiful too!

Lastly, I love big earrings but I have huge issues with heavy earrings! My right ear lobe’s piercing is so dangerously low I worry about heavy earrings! So you can imagine when I discovered these feather-light leather earrings from Nickel & Suede! The metallic pairs like the gold pair I’m wearing look like metal, even in person, but when you touch them you realize they are a soft leather! (Their suede pairs are amazing too!) They have various sizes, all in this darling raindrop shape, and I think their company is just amazing!
