Same blog, new name!

Lovely Deseret is now Modest Goddess.

I have decided to change the name of my modest fashion blog from Lovely Deseret to Modest Goddess! I LOVE my new name and hope you do too!

I work at a naming firm called Eat My Words, and I spend all day coming up with names for companies and products! So naturally, when I realized that my old blog name wasn’t communicating effectively with all of my followers, I knew I had to put our naming skills to work, and the name Modest Goddess was born!

I love the name Modest Goddess for my modest fashion blog because it communicates my conservative dress  and high standards of style and my beliefs that we are all daughters of God and worthy of dressing like it!

Why Modesty?

I love this quote by Elder Jeffery R. Holland speaking to a young couple, “…think of yourself and of her as the god and goddess you both inherently are.”

Another inspiring quote I love is by C.S. Lewis and goes like this: “The command be ye perfect is not idealistic gas. Nor is it a command to do the impossible. He [Christ] is going to make us into creatures that can obey that command. He said (in the Bible) that we were “gods” and He is going to make good His words. If we let Him—for we can prevent Him, if we choose—He will make the feeblest and filthiest of us into a god or goddess, a dazzling, radiant, immortal creature, pulsating all through with such energy and joy and wisdom and love as we cannot now imagine, a bright stainless mirror which reflects back to God perfectly (though, of course, on a smaller scale) His own boundless power and delight and goodness. The process will be long and in parts very painful; but that is what we are in for. Nothing less. He meant what He said” (Mere Christianity, New York City: Macmillan Paperbacks, 1960, page 160).

I just love those thoughts! Being raised by these truths and by reminding myself of them every day I have developed and learned to live by standards that help me live up to this potential which I believe that I (and all of you!) have. I have found it to be easier to remember where I came from, who I am, and where I am going when I outwardly express myself in a way that correctly represents how I feel inside. One of the ways I can do this is by dressing in a way that shows respect and love for my body (it’s power and purpose) and to He who created it.

It truly can be difficult to find ways to dress in a classy, conservative, modest fashion without feeling frumpy unless you know where to shop, which trending styles also happen to offer the most coverage, how to alter trending styles to fit your higher standards, and how to incorporate your own personality into the whole mix! Luckily I’ve created this blog to do just that! Look around and you’ll find tons of inspiration in each of these areas sure to inspire you so you can feel confident, beautiful, bright, and also covered.

Many more awesome looks to come! Can’t wait to post more!
